The hypocrisy is overwhelming. The point is not that nothing bad happened and it was just a little mistake. The point IS the "little mistake" that Rubio, Vance, Hegseth and others didn't notice anything was wrong with the site or the chat.

MAGA is affirmative action for insurrectionists. We must keep reminding everyone that there was only one nonwhite male on the Signal texts. Just as there were no disabled people of color piloting the plane or helicopter in the January Reagan National Airport crash. There was no basis in reality for Trump's allegations. I wonder if Black and Latino men and immigrants will continue to support MAGA when they start losing job opportunities from anti-DEI employers. The Dems have to reclaim the narrative. Maybe we need more Gen X, Millennial and Gen Z speechwriters and content makers?

Oh, David Litt, you are so right on. How about you get back to speech writing for Democrats who are emerging as leaders? Thank you for your thoughts and wisdom.

I feel like everyone keeps missing the elephant in the room. Everyone is talking about "fighting" within the context of trying to interfere with Trump's catastrophic agenda on one hand, while trying to strength the left's vote, e.g., in time for the mid-terms, on the other hand.

The only problem is that we have zero power to interfere with Trump's agenda. It's pretty clear that we can't rely on the GOP in Congress to lift a finger against Trump. In fact, I fully expect Trump to thumb his nose at any ruling he doesn't like and dare the judge to do anything about it. And that's because trump already has the military and the majority of US law enforcement in his pocket right now, so the judicial system is powerless to enforce any of their rulings.

Regarding voting, how can you be so sure that Trump will even acknowledge the mid-term election, or even allow the election to happen? We've already heard him tell a group last year "Vote for me this time and you'll never need to vote again". He mocked Zelenksyy for being a "dictator" on the basis of him not having any elections since 2019, completely side-stepping the fact that Ukraine's Constitution SUSPENDS national elections during wartime. And so I'm putting my money on Trump's effort to get us into war (against Canada, Greenland, Immigrants, Fentanyl, whatever the war du jour happens to be) so that he can use that as an excuse to exercise "war powers" and "postpone" or "suspend" the mid-term elections during wartime. And he'll make sure we are ALWAYS in some kind of war until he can wiggle the election right out of the Constitution.

We've already seen a near miss in shutting down the govrenment. The GOP was praying to God for a shut down because then Trump could assert those "special executive powers" during a government shut down so he could hack away at the remaining institutions without requiring Congressional approval (Yes, Schumer and his 10 cohorts did indeed do the right thing by approving the CR, folks!). So I'm thinking Trump will try to assert exec powers, get us into war, put off the mid-terms, and attempt to secure a life term as his get out of jail card.

Otherwise, he knows full well he'll have hundreds of very strong lawsuits against him the moment he steps out of the White House which would tie him up for the rest of his life.

So, I totally understand being scared in a scary time. But I think this is assuming a worst-case scenario will definitely happen. If I felt that way I'd leave the country or least stop paying attention to politics - but I don't think this kind of doom-certainity is even a little bit warranted right now. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
